2-Hour Confined Space Awareness Training

Description

Confined Spaces Awareness is an introductory course that reviews safety techniques for working in a confined space.

Topics covered in this confined spaces training include: the basics of OSHA's confined space regulations, confined space entry (CSE) permits and recognizing, evaluating and controlling hazards. It addresses the CSE team to make working in a confined space as safe as possible. In addition, this course discusses monitoring equipment, PPE and rescue equipment.

 

Objectives

Upon completion of Confined Space Awareness training, the student will be familiar with:

  • Identify types of hazards in confined spaces
  • Procedures to follow before entering a confined space
  • Define the terms oxygen deficiency versus oxygen enrichment
  • Recognize the concept of lower and upper flammable limits
  • Isolation, inerting and special procedures to enter a confined space
  • Identify confined space hazards, such as hydrogen sulfide and carbon monoxide toxins
  • General duties of the Attendant, Entrant and Supervisor
  • Define the difference between non-permit and permit entry confined spaces
  • Describe the importance of following confined space rescue procedures

Target Audience

This Confined Spaces Awareness safety course is intended to benefit all employees, supervisors and managers who may be required to enter and work in a confined space.

Outcomes

This course satisfies OSHA's requirements for the classroom portion of confined space safety training. ETI recommends that attendees receive additional site-specific confined space training.

What do I need to bring

Please bring a copy of your current facility confined space program and your monitoring or testing equipment if available.
